The two thoughts that come to mind are.
Prepare to "Muddle Through" this.
and
Expect the unexpected.
While it may be achievable in a shortish amount of time, sustaining this
kind of organizational environment is a commitment of a lifetime (of the
organization, not the CEO).
the image that comes to mind is standing on the top of a pole, on one leg,
juggling, while singing the complete works of the Beatles....(no, I've never
tried...just an image).
There will be times when you "got it," but then the mind loses focus on the
balance, or you drop the ball, or you start thinking too much about the
second verse of Yellow Submarine, and you go back into that wonderful state
known as chaos.
The would seem likely in an organization. There are moments of colective
clarity, when the organization is running on all cylinders, and then a key
player retires (or is poached), a project that was the focal point of the
organization gets completed (or shelved), the government changes
regulations, etc. etc. etc.
The ball is dropped, and you've got to get off the pole, get the ball, and
then start all over again, hopefully, this time singing, "Let it Be...."
With respect from Afar,
Jimbo
