[OSList] A 24/7 Hotline for OS

Hi All,

So the reason for this email is that I'm inspired by the pioneering spirit
of our community's, Tricia Chirumbole who has tenaciously hosted the weekly
Open Space Hotline video conference calls over many months using Skype and
Google Hangout. I've joined about 15 of them and they are always fun and
insightful. I encourage more folks to do the same-- just look for her
announcements on this discussion list every Monday or Tuesday. The calls
are at 12pm Eastern Time on Tuesdays.

I'm looking to build on the work of the OS Hotline. The hotline is for
group discussion and meets for one hour per week, and *I'm looking to
create space for informal 1-on-1 phone discussions that can happen anytime,
any day of the week **to connect members of our community**.* It will be
pretty simple-- people who are open to receiving calls, can flip their
status to "available" and then they can receive calls from those that call
the hotline.

There will be one hotline for dialogue/deliberation practitioners in
general and a separate one for open space; people can join one or both and
it will be free. Full details are in the email below that I sent to the
NCDD listserv yesterday.

I'm excited to build infrastructure that the community can truly depend
upon! I may have to change the name from Open Space Hotline to Open Space
Cafe since the Tuesday calls are already called "hotline".

*I'm looking for a few brave souls who would like to help me test it out
and give me feedback on which features to add while it's still in
development. *If you're interested, here's the Google form to add your
name & email:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1q8z4GvUrLxE1QFpqFmvNbDnPypBq76HT-YjBkadoytg/viewform

We are a delightfully chatty bunch and given the opportunity to speak with
each other by phone for informal, 10-15 minute chats, we will have lots of
fun and help each other ride this wave of learning that is life.

Please feel free to reply to me or reply to all with your feedback-- what
do you think about this hotline idea?

Hi Folks,

So imagine you've got some time on your schedule one afternoon or evening
and you're interested in just talking with another practitioner in the
field. You simply want to meet someone new or you want to chat about some
research findings or an upcoming client project.

I'm creating a dialogue and deliberation hotline which would allow dialogue
practitioners to easily connect with one another via phone for chats that
last 10-15 minutes.
*If you're interested in testing it out in about 10 days, please add your
name through this Google Form:*
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1q8z4GvUrLxE1QFpqFmvNbDnPypBq76HT-YjBkadoytg/viewform

The tool is flexible, still in development, and any and all advice is
welcome! Here are some questions to get the conversation started:

   - Would you ever use a community tool like this?
   - What features/capabilities should this tool definitely provide?

Here's the workflow so far, and it would be great to hear your advice for
how it could better serve our community:

   - *To receive a call*, you go online and indicate that you are available.
   - *To start a call,* just call the hotline and get connected to someone
who is available. The chat lasts about 10-15 minutes. If that was
enjoyable, you can choose to call another person from the pool of available
practitioners that are online at that time.

I'll figure out a plan for this project's financial sustainability later--
perhaps there are sponsors or perhaps it is grant-supported; I believe it
should be free for participants. The goal now is just to test the need and
make sure everything works great. Thanks in advance for your advice!
