Hi there,

I'm smiling big smile. Yes, I agree about the "nicies." In this case, it involved not making public what was going on. In this case a mistakes sense of "political correctness" methinks.

I'm waiting for a return call from the person who is the problem. I intend to do a bit of truth telling. I'm mad. Especially as this "bad apple" is always going on about wanting to build "community." Amazing how blind people can be to their own affect.

Thanks for the response. Happy Spring. Are you in Maine yet?

Indeed one of the marks of a self-organizing system (organic system) is that it always has a beginning, middle and end. So what about community gardens? Or community anything? Same thing, I think. As for your garden… Sounds to me like a classic case of the “Nicies” – Everybody wants to be “nice,” not say anything nasty (even if honest) so nothing gets said. And the results, sooner or later, are predictable. Communication closes down, system space contracts, and morbidity, even morality results. Living, self organizing systems don’t do very well when they can’t breathe. Or something…

Flouting agreements, signed contracts.. etc. etc. I think the answer is in total transparency? That the folks who knew this was going on didn't broadcast it and make it apparent to everyone else?

Unlike in Open Space the gardeners can't pick up and move their gardens to another space.... (though I do fear some are opting out which will eventually kill the garden)
