Evan – Nice to hear from you! And it is true
More Time! Any time spent in
opening space is a multiple (many times) of time in other environments.
Weird, I guess, but just the experience
so just be prepared. It could get a
lot worse (better!).

Subject: [OSList] Introduction from a new subscriber

Hello OSLIST,

Having read through your wonderful FAQ (thanks for compiling), I noted that
one of the things people appreciate are introductions from new subscribers.
So that is what this is.

My name is Evan Walsh and I work full time for Engineers Without Borders
Canada. As part of my role in Chapter Development I seem to do a great deal
of facilitation. We run and assist others in running a great number of
retreats, meetings, conferences, and off-sites throughout the year. From
time to time we will include an hour or two of "Open Space". I've always
enjoyed this approach but never found it as satisfying as I imagined it
could be. This lead me to do some more research about Open Space. I learned
that we weren't giving Open Space enough time or space to work effectively.
I also learned that I am in love with the philosophy and approach that
underlies Open Space.

I am incredibly excited to learn more about Open Space and eventually become
acquainted with facilitating it properly. I not only feel it will be
valuable to my organization, helping it meet its objectives, but I'm also
excited about spreading the philosophy of self-organization, and deepening
my participation in the sharing and learning about this exciting way of
being/living/thinking/feeling.

I've just completed Harrison Owen's User Guide and am working through the
"Non-Guide" (which lead me to this list today). I'm excited to join in on
the conversation and hope to soak up as much learning from this community as
I can.

Cheers,
