[OSList] advice and courage

Dear Hege,
what are you afraid of?
After having facilitated a whole bunch of os events, I myself am still
afraid of myself, fearing that I might give in to shortcuts or accept a
job because there is a good fee. And that in face of my experience that
getting more of the system into the room is one of the surefire ways for
the client and his entire outfit to get grand results and practical
progress out of the event.
So, if a client suggests an event with just a section of his system (his
treasure chest), I tell him what he can expect (a good discussion, fun,
etc.) and then I point out what he can expect if he has more of his
"system" participate (systemwide transformation, sustainable and robust
results, etc.... and fun, of course).
And the simple question he can ask himself to find out who else other
than those he first had in mind should participate is: Who all is
affected/involved in the issue of "Building the Best Ship?".
Often, this question results in thinking even of the customers and other
parts of the system that are often missed and an invitation in that
direction (in schools these might be the students, in hospitals the
patients, in the planning of a community those that will live there, in
a church the parishioners, in a WOSonOS our clients, for IKEA those that
buy their furniture, in the redesign of a conference center the folks
that do the cleaning, at Rockport shoes the security guy who just
accidentally was present when this famous shoe manufacturer had his
whole plant together to think on the future of their business...).

Greetings from Berlin
mmp
