Opening Space in Africa

Hello, Cleo -

Yes, as you have learned in our several responses - there are a number
of us on OSLIST and some who are not on OSLIST who have opened space
in Africa.
My own experience in African is in Zambia, South Africa and in
Mozambique, so far.
And there are others who reside in Africa who do this work - some of
their names have also been shared by Michael and others.

Many of us - in our work all over the world - have used Open Space as
a tool to facilitate leadership events / forums or spaces of knowledge
sharing relating to change and leadership.

So I am a bit unclear about what you are asking - if you are asking
what country would appeal to -us- to attend an event - shouldn't it be
about the participants in the region - amazing Africans - rather than
which international folks can come? The largest number of people who
attend an in-person event are always those in the region - in addition
to others who can afford the resources to join. But it is not about us
- it is about Africans and Africa, no? So would not your prospective
participants be those in Africa who you may wish to gather together
for leadership events?

As to what works well, what does not work well - are you familiar with
Open Space? If so - there is rich learning on this list and that is a
big question - perhaps you have some particular questions? And if you
have not yet experienced Open Space - have you read Harrison Owen's
book, "Open Space Technology: A User's Guide" to learn how this
dialogue tool works?

Please do feel welcome to ask more questions - we are all here to
support and believe in you,

From an early evening in California USA,
Lisa
