Lucas,

I was just talking about how someone should take up the challenge to you OS type tools to create
this kind of debate.

I am unable to be there but very interested to see how it turns out.

I wonder though...by framing it as "200 progressives" next to a rally of "conservatives" do you not
start off by contradicting you claim of non-partisanship and fundamentally politicize your group's
orientation?

Is that detrimental to your goal?

I would grant you that it is well understood that some conservatives are using a strategy of
disruption to keep the debate out of the democrat's control and to encourage a certain wild
notions about the health care bill alive.

I am curious how OS can deal with active participants who would actively disrupt the discussions.
I usually think the problem with this kind of thing is people being disinterested and not showing
up with their passion...no problem like that here!

Erik

Eric--

On your point of how OS handles the disrupters: I think naturally. Given
all our talk about Space Invaders and how the facilitator might respond,
here is my experience:

Opened Space around immigration issues. A self-described "reverend" of
the KKK showed up carrying a white Bible. When we went to break out
groups, he attended one, and then left.

Later, I figured out it was because the small groups denied him his
soapbox. Furthermore, I suspect the people in his group honored the
intent of hearing everybody and having a conversation, not a diatribe.
Although I did not visit the group, they were quiet and respectful to
each other.
