Incentive to participate?

I'm going to go against the grain a little. :)

On the one hand, every Open Space I've attended has had nice lunches, simple
breakfasts, some snacks, and sometimes even a relatively fancy (even if
potluck) reception. None of those things seem like rewards or bribes, though
they do make the invitation to 2-3 intensive days of work easier to accept.

On the other hand, I would challenge the assumption that the event will
probably need to be outside of the normal school term. I love the idea of
having Open Space at work, but that doesn't mean I want to trade personal
and family time for work time. For example, I would resist having a
work-related Open Space over a weekend, preferring it during the week, even
if I'm passionate about the topic.

I'm definitely curious what experiences others have had with work-related
Open Spaces outside of normal working time periods. I'm anticipating this
question coming up soon where I work. :)
