WOSonOS - July 2008 San Francisco - Save the (general) Date(s)

I live in the San Francisco watershed these days so, lucky me, it will be
very inexpensive for me to attend WOSonOS 08. I am very happy to be able to
be on the team that will make WOSonOS 08 happen, too. Truly, I am very
happy to be able to serve the worldwide OS community.

I echo Lisa's wonderful affirmations: our planning team will help everyone
who wants to come to this event to the fullest extent we possibly can. If
we all collectively believe we can work out the finances for everyone who
feels a call to attend this event, well, then, everything will work out. My
apartment is a ninety-minute ride by public transportation to the event
venue . . . but I hereby offer a spot on my floor (I only own one bed!) to
anyone who wants it. And I'll even let someone have the bed (and sleep on
the floor myself) if that will help someone decide to participate. And I
will be asking everyone I know in the Bay Area to put up folks.

I am sorry, Michael, that a July 08 event does not look like it will work
for you. When setting dates for any event, it never seems possible to please
all of the people all of the time, does it?

I confess that the dates for next year's WOSonOS did not matter to me, not
really. . . but if it were up to me, I would do it in September. However,
like Lisa mentioned, I have heard several folks mention that they will use
this opportunity to introduce their children to beautiful San Francisco. . .
and most kids are on vacation in July.

I know you are right, Michael, that travels costs are a bit higher in the
summer.

And thanks for the reminder about OS map dues. I owe you some money,
Michael. Plus I'd like to change my listing because I don't live in Seattle
now.
