Closed and open space

Jack;

I think you have asked a great question about the words we use and their
implications - what does it mean to "open" pace if in fact all systems
are really self-organizing.

I think "open" is a relative word, not dualistic (open or closed). We
are enabling a system to be more "open" and more aware that it is "open"
in a variety of ways with OST. We are helping to open up a perspective
on the organization - and suggesting new principles and law by which it
can more intentionally self-organize. Certainly opening up some peoples
thinking to ideas they have not thought, to connections they have not
yet maid. Is the system already and "open system" - yes, but the
boundaries that some people draw help them think it is closed when it is
not. In fact, they are often exhilarated (and sometimes frightened)
when they discover/experience it is not closed.
