Or perhaps not so much taking charge of the space as taking
responsibility for defining the space and inviting people into it:
"Here, I'll walk around for a bit and tell you a few things so you
know there's a space here.  When you are ready, come take it over."

Of course, people are helping you define the space by sitting in the
circle and giving you their attention.  All that plus 10 minutes makes
a container!
