Moving from "help me think this through"..

Winston--

I suspect you are right on both counts, that it depends on the context and
the consciousness of the facilitator. In a situation with a lot of actual or
potential conflict, or even a high level of complexity, I don't think I would
consider stepping out of the facilitator role. In a more familiar context,
and perhaps a meeting which was informational or exploratory in nature, maybe.

As for consciousness, I think it would depend on my ability to hold space
mentally and spiritually while physically doing something else. And on my
ability to advocate for a particular solution without being attached to
outcome. Speaking just for myself, I think I could manage it only some days.

One facilitator I know posted one session during the first OS he facilitated,
and decided he did not want to do that again. But with more experience, he
might change his mind.

If you have two facilitators, as is often the case for OSONOS, you can trade
off a bit, one leading a session while the other holds space.

I don't think there is a single right answer to this question, because it
involves many issues of personal choice, personal development, the nature of
the participant group, and the nature of the discussion. Too many variables
for an easy answer.
