from OS Institute (US) board

I'm not inclined to add much more to what has been said, but I want to state my
thoughts on a couple of points:

I disagree here. OST lives and dies by how effective it is on the ground. In
my experience, people don;t get it until they've done it, and then they either
want to do it again or they don't. I don;t want to see it become "the latest
management fad" complete with its own database. I want to see it become like
Nominal Group Technique, or brainstorming: something most people take fro
granted as a process that works, and why wouldn't you use it?

Really not interested in seeing this happen. I left the corporate world because
I didn't want to climb the ladder, so I don;t want to begin that journey in my
"hunter/gatherer" life. Also, as a newly minted OST facilitator years ago, I'm
not sure how confident I would have been to go out and do my first one if I knew
that I could not be called a master. Fundamental to OST, it seems to me, is
that we acknowledge the capacity, leadership and "mastery" in every single
person in the room. That means six month old babies, and 90 year old
grandmothers in my books. The same principles go for people in this community.
The more I do this, the less like a master I feel.

No. I do, however feel strongly that if the "Master" thing went ahead, I would
work against it. I've got some passion for that one.

I think it bears noting that people in this little "community" (sorry Ralph!)
that accretes around OSLIST, osw.org and TMN is always contributing something
all the time to our practice. The User's Non-Guide is a real example of the
kind of wisdom and "services" that people provide, knowingly or not, to others
on this list.

Thanks to the OSI Board for sharing this with us all.
