Dear Tzvetina,
Snejana Ilieva of the Sofia University Department of Social Work and
Psychology was trained in Berlin at the Johanneskirche when Harrison
Owen was invited under our programme "We bring the originals to
Berlin" back in 1998. That was the first open space-event in that now
legendary place that has seen many open spaces.
It wouldn't surprise me if Snejana has spread open space in Bulgaria
as others who attended the training from Russia and Poland and
Sweden, Holland, Austria and in many parts of Germany have since then
done in their countries.
Hugs
michael

>Dear all, I am a new commer to the OST contact list. My name is Tzvetina Arsova Netzelmann. I am psychologist, Bulgarian. I live and work in Berlin. There I attended an OS training of facilitators. Fascinated by the flexibility of the method I am already on the run of brainstorming ideas of its applicability in my professional field. My interests and experience are in the field of community social development, psychodynamic approaches to groups, intercultural differences and encounters. I work mainly with ethnic minority communities and with seriously underprivileged groups. I am interested to know people who have already been working with OS in Central and Eastern Europe, and especially if someone was delivering training for OS facilitators in Bulgaria. I would like to get in contact and to develop ideas about how to utilise OS in some contexts in Bulgaria undergoing deep transformation processes.

Larry -- thanks for touching base on this.

I don't think IAF folks are too interested in OS as it is not
"facilitation" as they largely understand it.

Actually, I think the post-conference workshop day was a little difficult
for some people to hang around for. But I also posted it on an earlier day
as a "Birds of a Feather" table topic (you post a topic -- like-minded
people join you at that table for an extended lunch). We had to bring in
extra chairs for this one, and a few folks said just the discussion and
interaction around OS was the most productive learning experience they had
the whole conference. So there's always an Open Space conversation (or
event) waiting to happen...

Next year's IAF conference is in June in Ottawa. Do you folks nearby want
to propose this workshop and I'll propose something else for '03? Just let
me know...
