Opening space, transfer-in, small spaces

Dear Glory,
sorry, I have no experience with open space in the classroom or in
designing a whole semester of work at a college.
What I am wondering about, though, is the wisdom of creating "some"
open space.
If one were to have an open space in the classroom, would you not
have to deal with such questions as "who is the sponsor" and "what is
the theme" and "how is the theme arrived at" and "who is the planning
body" and "who is the facilitator" etc.
Probably, all those questions could be answered but in working
through them it seems to me a whole bunch of transformations might
start taking place in the organisation in which the "teaching"
"accreditation", "evaluation" etc. has been taking place so far in a
pretty different mode.
Also, the questions around the 5 preconditions for an open space
(complexity, diversity, urgency, conflict, open question) would have
to be put to the sponsor/planning group. And the givens of the
situation would also be a point of discussion.
A very exciting undertaking.
I would love to hear of experiences with open space-classrooms!
Greetings from Berlin
michael
