journalists in an OS

There are issues having journalists at OST events. Here's our experience:

1. Ask participants how they feel having journalists there. If they
are welcome, what are the ground rules? We usually insist they
participate and ask each group for permission to use outputs and any
individuals if quoted on and off the record. We find it best to deal
openly with their presence and how they will behave.

2. We once had a TV crew arrive but the participants refused to let
them enter the Community. The sponsor had to simulate a group
session with staff.

3. The temptation, of course, is to get coverage of the theme if it
is appropriate. We have three articles on events we facilitated,
which are available on our website, <www.openfutures.com>.

Good luck!

Cheers
