Birgitt, Another thought just came to me on this topic.  While many aspects of
the Canadian ans US prison system are similar, the Canadian system was, and
continues to be, more clear on its mission, including the treacherous inherent
competing values of security, safety, rehabilitation, etc.  It strikes me that
pre-work includes getting in touch with these issues.  They are part of the
context which influences what goes on inside.
