[OSList] Just Keep Swimming

Hi Tami,

I'm a documentary film maker and occasional contributor to OSLIST. I'm an
Open Space sympathiser but not a practitioner.

Back in 2001 I was invited to attend and film an OSonOSinOZ workshop in
Melbourne Australia, near where I live. It was a magic time and I produced a
short promo video about Open Space that you may find helpful in seeing how
it can work. I tried to encapsulate the 'essence of OS' in as simple a
manner as possible.

I recorded a number of other interviews, but include a longer discussion
with Harrison Owen that may also be helpful. You'll find the other
interviews grouped with these two on YouTube.

I went to the three day workshop very curious as to how it would all happen.
I came away deeply moved and impressed by the simplicity and inherent power
of the process. The lack of an agenda seemed like heresy: the agendas that
were developed by the participants had strong integrity and made real
achievements possible.

I hope the videos may be helpful!

All the best

David

Subject: [OSList] Just Keep Swimming

Hello community members,

My name is Tami Norris and I am a doctoral student in the OD & C program at
Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I am a Vice President of a local
non-profit who focuses on reversing the cycle of poverty. My role is
centered on workforce development with an eye toward income stability.

As part of our Collaborative Change and Transformation class at BGSU I will
be studying Open Space Technology this term. To be honest, I love the idea
of getting individuals together in a group to bring forth ideas and work on
problem solving. However, I am a little terrified of the no time-aligned
agenda and the fact that the problems to be discussed are all generated from
the participants. If you remember Dory in Nemo who kept getting lost I feel
that could happen in these events, but I will "just keep swimming" and learn
more and hope to utilize this in my career with our key stakeholders.

I would be excited to connect with someone on this group to conduct a short
video interview to be completed sometime in the next 3 weeks or so. I would
be especially be interested in talking to someone who works in poverty
alleviation and diversion. Please respond if you would be willing to help
this lost fish to learn about Open Space.

Thank you!

Tami Norris, MBA
