*A flyer for Peace Day - Monday September 21*
Hello Tony, and increasing the value of learning seekers,

Increasing the value of learning is nowhere more important than learning
how to foster a culture of peace an non-violence.
At the beginning of this century, and millenium, The United Nations
General Assembly (53/25) asserted as a common mission of humanity,
in whatever we do, if we are to survive, is the "creation of a culture
of peace and non-violence, for the children of the world."
We live in a culture and system of war. In the United States nearly a
trillion dollars a year goes to the war budgets in their many forms,
starving the budgets for human needs, health, education, housing, etc.
Hierarchy, command, domination, coercion, impunity and ultimately
violence have become the ways of power.  Kindness, caring, sharing,
helping and healing are qualities of the culture of peace.   Toward
right livelihood is a needed shift from the making of guns and the
accessories of domination.

How can we, and people generally, in the workplace, classroom, city hall
and county commission, zoom room,  kitchen table and study group better
understand...increase our learning about...the war system and  our
capacities to act for system change?

Our discussion on the International Day of Peace, Monday September 21,
would do well to address this question:  how our varied efforts can help
move from a war system to a peace system.  When we think of the commons
and time banking, community currencies, public banks and mutual aid,
...topics in previous discussions...how do these relate to fostering a
culture of peace and non-violence?

I hope this can be a focus on our Peace Day agenda, Monday.  I am
attaching a Peace Day flyer from Odile.
