[OSList] The Question

Jeff,

Thank you for your question. Here are some possible motivations for 
asking The Question (in no particular order):

1. To know what OST actually is
2. To discover what others think OST actually is
3. To find out if there is a generally accepted "reference definition" 
describing what OST actually is
4. To be surprised by this or that response to "The Question"
5. To raise a potentially important and potentially timely issue
6. To discover who might demonstrate a sense of passion and 
responsibility, ("and more," hint hint) around The Question

Why do you ask "why do you ask?" ,  Jeff?
