Thanks everyone supporting us and spreading the word about our training in Netherlands. Thanks Birgitt for inviting me/us to share a bit more.

Just as the discussion goes on parallel to this posting, about other ways to open space apart from using Open Space Technology, there are many ways to open space using Open Space Technology. Someone (read: HO) ones put it something like: Whoever has a good head and a good heart can read the book and do it……………….but it’s a life time journey to master. Ha, sounds almost like another principle :).

During the three days of our training we explore OST together in a format that gives lots of opportunities to learn and reflect on different aspects of the method, from choosing what practicalities I want to use to finding my way to start a journey of understanding the essence or my essence of OST. I’ve heard back from several that having the training has affected their development as leaders in organizations, tapping into a new approach to leadership.

Another thing I find of great value is the focus we put on doing proper preparations and follow up. During my 17 years as an independent consultant I have yet to meet an organization that does this thoroughly when heading into “serious” development work. Amaaaazing! It is always greatly appreciated even if they sometimes hesitate before understanding the benefits. We teach and explore some simple but powerful frameworks we use for these facilitated meetings.

Then having three trainers present is also a benefit that participants express valuable. Even if we think we have a similar understanding of course we each have our unique style and understanding. So us taking turns facilitating the training gives an extra spice. So for sure we learn a lot ourselves every time we facilitate these wonderful learning opportunities.

Actually when thinking about it I have had OST trainings with three trainers myself, before starting to teach/share. Back in 1998 I learnt from Ingrid Olausson, one of the pioneers who brought OST to Sweden. Then in 2000 I had trainings with Harrison Owen as well as with Birgitt Williams. Then, all the OST trainings I have facilitated – learning so much each time :) - never ending story, for sure!

So, welcome to join us

Cheers

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I have promoted this via facebook. I see you already have it on the Genuine Contact list and I will write there also to support this great opportunity. You, Anna Caroline, and Doris make quite a team and your collective leadership is a gift to anyone who participates. I am hopeful that in a few sentences you could give some information about what makes this training good even for people who already work actively with OST as facilitators.

Warmly,

Birgitt

I have just posted this to the OPENSPACE AGILITY (OSA) group on Facebook. The group has almost 350 members who are actively learning how to apply Open Space to Agile implementations. Here is the link where the post appears:

I also shared this post to my personal Facebook page.

Hope this helps! Good luck as you go forward. If you have a discount code for new registrations from OSLIST and/or the OSA Facebook group, that is especially helpful to post here now.
