[OSList] There is no such thing as open space (Jeff Aitken via OSList)

Building on Jeff's point: I have personally, empirically confirmed several
times that what we call Open Space Technology is sufficient to the
participants' experiencing open space.

What I am beginning to wonder lately is what other paths may exist to
arriving at open space, when the pre-work or other valuable pre-conditions
for OST are not in place. It sounds like Jeff had a creative idea for
responding to some complications that arose in the pre-conditions of OST,
and he had a successful experiment with a work-around. This seems to be
part of the art, that mixes with the science to yield positive outcomes.

I have experienced a tradition of "Lunchtime Walkabout" as a formal session
at several OST events, proposed by a participant/convenor and loosely led
by them. In practice it turns into diads (by default or design). As a
facilitator it seems to behoove us to have extra-tools or facilitative
devices among our internal resourcefulness, in order to continue to hold
space for people in a variety of situations.

Thank you for continuing to share your stories with me, in how you have
relied upon your resourcefulness to hold space.

Jon
