[OSList] raising inspiration

Hi Michael,

Your point is very valid/inspiring and is it not exactly the role of the facilitator to "read" the need (ride the wave). In a very closed situation/group some story telling can help, but I guess there is no one solution fit all other than the spirit of Open Space. The OS principals may offer a good opportunity to share a personal story that the group can relate to. Most people are parents and all are themselves children. I have never tried this type of short story telling but possibly someone on this list has? What comes to my mind is the fact that we donot choose our parents. In our puberty, we feel stuck with them and donot find them the "right people" at all. Similar to a convener who hopes to get many people interested in his/her topic. In balanced adulthood we hopefully find a way to accept them as being "right" and accept the richness of their company.
Both stages of life offer a totally different energy during a family dinner. Hopefully the OST can be seen as an opportunity to be prepared to be surprised

Gijs

A question I sometimes mull over is, 'is it possible to elevate 'passion' (clearly I'm not just referring to romantic passions)? If to be inspired is to be 'in-spirited', then is there anything we can do to raise Spirit amongst people who might not currently be experiencing very much of it? Or is it always a gift/grace which catches us by surprise?

At other times I've been inspired from the outside by an inspirational speech in which a great vision of alternative future has got my attention. In an OST event there will be certain people who will be there immediately because they are already inspired by the topic. But can anything be done to inspire the currently uninspired? Or doesn't it matter that we even try to do so?
