Hi Adriana!

For cheap accommodations, I am probably going to couch surf:
https://www.couchsurfing.org/

It is actually a network of people offering to house travelers for FREE!
There are levels of vetting and assurance, but it is still not for everyone!

I have done it a handful of times and the experiences are overall positive
if not always ideal - happy to answer any questions you have about it if
you are considering. We could also try to "surf" together - I need to start
looking soon as it is harder to get people to accept you last minute.

You can also check out airbnb.com - people renting out their homes or part
of their homes - not free, but sometimes cheaper and sometimes really nice
places or great locations.
