Reflecting still on what Mathilde wrote, a student in business school, from
her first experience of Open Space. I am reminded about this thing called
"happiness" that appears in Open Space -- *happiness meshed with purpose!*

Mathilde speaks of pleasure, wonder, beautifulness and fullness of the
circle. A colleague, Gerry Kirk, from the technology world who I met in
Open Space and who later joined our company NuFocus Strategic group quoted
some stats this week which convey a similar message. Indeed as it goes at
work, in business and in life there is much that connects Open Space to
Happiness and to Success... the joy of contribution (individual and
collective) and making a difference on something that matters.

*Here Gerry's note:*.

>From the Delivering Happiness at
Work<http://www.amazon.com/Delivering-Happiness-Profits-Passion-Purpose/dp/0446563048>site,
an initiative of Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com:

A decade of research shows happiness is seriously good for business.

Happy employees are committed, drive sales and are about 43% more
productive. But 72% of the workforce is unhappy, each one costing about
$13,000 a year in lost productivity.

A decade of research shows happiness can change that.

*Happiness raises nearly every key business indicator:*

*33% higher profitability (Gallup)
43% more productivity (Hay Group)
37% higher sales (Shawn Achor)
300% more innovation (Harvard Business Review HBR)*

*And lowers nearly every business liability:*

*51% lower turnover (Gallup)
50% less safety incidents (Babcock Marine Clyde)
66% decrease in sick leave (Forbes)
125% less burnout (HBR)*
