Last night, Gerry Kirk was awarded the:

*Innovation Leader of the Year *by the community of Sault Ste Marie in
Ontario, Canada. This highly coveted award acknowledges an IT and/or
science leader/manager/executive whose leadership and/or creative use of
science and/or technology has helped to advance their organization, to
improve client/customer services and have a positive impact on the IT and/or
science community. It is not posted on their website yet but should appear
soon. http://www.ssmic.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=content&menuid=28&pageid=103<http://www.ssmic.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=content&menuid=28&pageid=1031>

I mention it because Gerry has been trailblazing in Open Space and was the
mastermind behind the technology initiatives we did at the recent Open Space
in New Jersey. The hope is that this http://www.creativenj.org/ site
connected to Facebook and Twitter will become a hub for the continuing
conversations, action and initiatives that will emerge from the 2 day
event. For us, it's still an experiment. In addition to creating a virtual
space, we're also hoping many of the 150 participants will decide to Open
Space wherever they are; it's something we'll be nudging along together with
the client.

The point I want to make however is that it's not often that one of our own,
an Open Spacer, gets a top award like this*, recognized by community,
government, business and university representatives*. A nice coincidence
also that our work in New Jersey is all about Creativity and Innovation.

Congratulations Gerry,

Suzanne
