Hi!
For me there is also speaking slowly and soaking in the energy of the group.

And a further thought - The first thing I do when I start an Open Space is
to walk slowly all the way around the inside of the circle. As I go I
acknowledge the people I am passing and invite them to let their eyes go
around the circle noticing all the people - friends, new friends, others who
may become friends. Take your time and walk slowly - slow your breathing to
an easy in/out and match your paces to your breath. I think you will find
that when you arrive at the point where you started you will notice a real
change in you and in the group. Anxiety levels are down and eager
anticipation is up. And interestingly enough you really haven't done a thing
but walk the circle. Actually, to let you in on another secret which every
Shaman knows - Before beginning any important event you have to "bound the
circle." By walking the boundaries you define the space and make it safer by
your action. It can seem like magic and some have thought so -- but to me it
is just a very natural act. It is the greeting and acknowledgement of the
people of the journey which is about to take place.

Eleder - Big Secret! Just be the way you are and it will be perfect. It is
also true that if you try to be something different (than what you are)
everybody will see through it. The real you is the real deal - Nervous or
not. If you feel nervous just say so. Won't hurt when you walk into the
circle to say something like - This is really different! Don't make a big
deal out of it, but just saying so can make you feel easier along with
everybody else. One thing not to do - Try to hide at the edge of the circle.
You will be found!

For myself I walk all over the place, Look people in the eye. I even sit
down next to somebody and make my opening into a conversation with them.
Just don't take too much time. The real point is to get out of the way so
the people can get to work.

Hello!

How do you feel speaking from the centre for, let's say, 15 minutes when
opening space?

There's a small issue that makes me a bit uneasy: just knowing that I'll be
all the time showing my back to some attendees. Do you walk a bit around to
avoid it?

What about looking at people's eyes when speaking? Do you do it consciously
one by one around the circle?
Do you perhaps look far away just to keep calmer?

What are the rituals that help you enjoy this moment instead of feeling
nervous?

Those are some of the questions that are coming to my mind during the
preparation of my next OS, next Friday.

Warmly,

Eleder
