Dear All
last week Yaari Pannwitz has run an Open Space at my
module "Conditions and tools: Change Management" as part of the first
semester of the study programme "Global Change Management" at University
of Applied Sciences at Eberswalde, Germany (www.hnee.de)
This was a valuable learning for me and for the students. I have
experienced OST as facilitator, assistant, helper and I have been at
WOSONOS this year. I am very fond of the method. It has been a deep
process for me to let go and realize that I cannot facilitate it myself
("never do it in your own organization") and take on the role of the
sponsor. This brought some new insights for me, seen with the eyes of a
sponsor, which I want to share:
- participate and let go!
- you influence the group by participating as an official leader (it
honors the group but it is not easy to stay with the inner place and to
know when to hold back, for example by not attending certain sessions)
- the role of the facilitator is also to deal with the sponsor during
the conference not only beforehand
- a sponsor needs to be careful about when to say what: bringing
"reality" is vs. holding back in morning and evening circles
The students experienced working in OS as valuable and providing energy.
They came up with running a study course completly in this way. I will
support them in this and pass this idea on to people in charge of
designing and running the study programme.
Cheers and warm greetings from Berlin!
