I've just set up a couple google sites for different groups/projects.

so far, i'm impressed by usability and functionality. but, it's still
early.

they do a great little 3 minute video on how to use. and, like google
docs etc, it's free!

http://www.google.com/sites/help/intl/en/overview.html

the other thing that's nice in using google tools is that people are
getting used to them in google docs, google groups, google calendars
etc.

here's what wikipedia has to say:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JotSpot

google sites may have limitations in terms of all that you're hoping
to achieve michael.

but, seems worth considering for a variety of uses.
