Hey Michael,

I would lean toward the phone-based options as well, just because so many
people have phones handy. It's also interesting to me to have people
communicate via the more essential format of text messaging.

Beyond Twitter, you can also aggregate text messages in other ways, e.g.
using services like http://polleverywhere.com that provide a public, very
interesting interface to see ideas from the group mind.

Your thoughts about tagging are good -- with twitter just use #tagmyevent to
group things together.

Another suggestion to consider (might make a good virtual marketplace wall)
is http://mindmeister.com -- live collaborative, interconnected mind
mapping.

What comes to mind that I haven't seen yet is a "blog-wiki" -- i.e. a "wiki"
that has "blogs" instead of "pages" to create more of a multi-voice format.
It's probably out there... maybe someone on the list has seen it.
