Initiation

Adding another language (a third one?) to the confusion.

In Portuguese, "beginning" translates as "início" that is similar to "initiation". So I have always translated "Initiation" as "início", hence "beginning", or "geting things started".

But now that my attention has been captured to that, the word "iniciação" exists in Portuguese, meaning "being initiated to a religion or (other) exoteric practice" and is the correct translation of "initiation".

Hence, Harrison, either use "beginning" instead of "initiation" or accept an esoteric ressemblance of the OST "beginning" ;-)

  Regards

    Raffi,

My understanding of "initiation" in this context is "getting things started".

    Best wishes to you,

  Dear listers,

While working through the OST User's Guide a few months ago, I noticed the
word "initiation" in Chapter 6, "Creating Time and Space" as the word
marking the opening of the space.

The Guide explains that initiation has these stages:

1. Welcome
2. Focus the Group
3. State the Theme
4. Describe the Process
5. Create the Community Bulletin Board
6. Open the Village Marketplace
7. Get out of the way!

How do you understand this word?

Harrison, what did you mean by this word?

It seems to hark back to your discussion of liturgy and the badly-needed
creation of a/the new life story in "Spirit: Transformation and Development
in Organizations."

appreciatively,
raffi
