funding community work?

Yes, Doug, thanks again for the inquiry.
It seems like such an innocent question, and yet it surfaces a lot!
As I wrote to you, I'm wondering
"Where are the synergies for transnational corporations and cultural
creatives (and community activists) in growing the gift economy?"
In other words, when we live in a time where these huge corporate systems
impact our lives in many, many ways where all the possibilities (and past
experience) - however small - of constructive engagement in building
sustainable economies with them? They are not going away anytime soon.
Another aspect of this question is what do you consider to be community
work. This is not to come to a definition but rather to surface what are the
assumptions that might be held about what is (and what isn't) community work.
And some would say that this question is all about belief work. What are my
beliefs around doing work that has meaning for me and my material/financial
sustainability...comes down to the age old question of trust, trust in self
and in the large world?
I must confess, Doug, that I am not sure I have any answers to offer, but I
am very excited by the question. And look forward to hearing/reading the
questions of others.
warmly,
raffi
