doing self-organization

Harrison,
When Michael writes he isn't a fan of the self-org story, I think about
keeping the creative potential in keeping space open for our understanding
of open space. Self-org is a very convincing story. And our as our world is
changing very quickly so will our understanding of open space.
Might offering just the self-org theory as the *only* likely story of os
close the space a wee bit for other likely stories?
Who knows what those other likely stories might be, but I'd bet that in the
next 10-20 years we're going to hear some other pretty compelling ones.
Guess we'll have to stay tuned...to the bass note <silly grin> ?
[Hi to all in Kiev/Kyiv! I guess if you're nervous, Jo, that must be a good
sign!]
Warmly,
Raffi

Following up on this weekend's activities:
RoCoCoCamp was a bilingual (English/French) BarCamp event for wiki
folks, on the theme of Collaboration, Creativity and Self-organization.
It ran for two days, followed by Convergence on the third day. Many
experienced Open Space for the first time and found it a useful way to
meet. Certainly, many, many connections were made and projects were
started or enhanced. Facilitating three days was, for Esther Matte and
me, a big committment and a lot of effort... but it was worth it to see
so many people learning and forging new collaborations!

There was a report on RoCoCoCamp in the mainstream media.
I'm posting a link here in case it's useful to our French OST folks.

*As always, the right people came... and apparently the right things
happened!

Yes, when I use it in tech circles, I too encounter the sentiment "wow,
this is a great new thing!" - as if they can't believe they didn't
invent it themselves :-)
Does it matter if they know? I'm not sure... :-)

I say this because all are basically appropriate for 'non-geeks' as in non-coders, folks who don't work in a tech company - just people who use computers to come to and have a good time.
