hello all,

this just to report a bit on progress at www.openspaceworld.org this last
year. please spread the word as you're able, links in websites and email
signatures and such. every link helps. and now...

FIRST, a big thanks to those who've made financial contributions! ...brian
rogers, elwin guild, agneta setterwell, tim lannan, siona van dijk, sheila
isakson, at least one anonymous donor, and osi-usa are the ones who paid the
bills to keep all those pixels lit last year.

AND another big thanks to everyone who has posted photos of open space
events at www.flickr.com/photos/tags/openspacetech ...we have collected
almost 2400 pictures in the last year!

And a very special thank you to Ted Ernst, Chris Corrigan, Ashley Cooper,
Wendy Farmer-O'Neill, Doug Germann, and Raffi Aftandelian, and Christy
Lee-Engel who've helped keep the blog going this year -- and did some really
great work in conference calls and experimental blogging to create an
administrative structure for the site that is the beginning of my being able
to turn over the technical keys to the community at large. More on that as
the year goes on, I reckon.

Thanks, too, to Esther Matte, who has just finished a new French translation
of my Working in Open Space: A Guided Tour article. That will be posted
later this week. Check the weblog at www.openspaceworld.org/news or the
French section of the site for the link.

THIS YEAR... we have also made it easier to find info on OSonOS events,
added a couple of podcast recordings of openings, blogged some juicy bits
from the OSLIST, added new links to places like the WorldMap and WorldScape,
cleaned up the ResourcesArchives...

AND we have opened a new space for your comments about the site, a single
page where general comments can be posted, events announced, news reported,
blog items submitted for posting, as well as specific comments about
individual blog posts can also be skimmed. so this year we will collect
comments! www.openspaceworld.org/news/comments

AND we've been making more and more links to OST practitioners you might
never have heard of, but who are indeed out there opening space and blogging
about it elsewhere. Ted's been keeping an eye on technorati blog search
engine and posting links in the blog.

AND there have been some rumblings about starting a series of conference
call forums, as well. Find Ashley Cooper if you'd like to help that get
started. Chris Corrigan has been talking about doing individual interviews
for some years now... so if you see him someplace, give him a nudge on that
one.

AND we've done some sprucing of the bookstore along the way too, the latest
update being the addition of Peggy Holman's 2d edition Change Handbook which
is now on sale at www.openspaceworld.org/bookstore

SO... please do have a look at what's happening at
www.openspaceworld.org...and buy Peggy's book ...and post some
comments to things...

Maybe this year we can even move some of our juicier questions and
conversations out where others can see them easier, in blog posts and
comments at www.openspaceworld.org . Maybe we'll figure out how to have an
OSonOS in the Weblog!

Finally, please let me know if you want to join the blog posting team, we
probably have room to take on a few more this year.

Next updates, if needed, might come later this year, maybe April or May...

Many Thanks and Happy New Year,

Michael

...geez, I didn't realize how much happened this year... and I guess i got
