SV: The Pros and Cons of OST? (plus use of the word 'technology')

Jennifer--

I know that I've had people in other fields assume that an Open Space meeting
is about urban planning. So I can see that it would be confusing.

I've also stumbled over words that have a very specific, specialized meaning
in the profession of a group I am working with, a little red-faced when I use
the word in a more generic sense and somone feels affronted.

I might say something like, "I usually call this kind of meeting an Open
Space conference, but since Open Space has other meanings in our profession, let's
just call it a self-organizing meeting."

Words aside, I'm delighted that you are using OST with other urban planning
professionals--my experience is that land use planning is a very good place to
have all the voices in the room, preferably at an early stage of the planning
process.

Best wishes on your good work!

Joelle
