WC and OS in the classroom

Hallo All,

First of all I wish you a lot of pleasure in 2006.

I have some experience with The World Café in a classroom setting. It
works great, exploring questions that realy matter to the students are
explored, followed by planning for action. It would be nice to let
students organise a World Café or Open Space around issues that matter
at the university or in their environment. A few weeks ago I read a very
good article of Egar Schein, about his experiences in a change
management course for students. He describes the principles of Kurt
Lewin and how he used them in his design for the course. Maybe the
article will be useful to your friend Melinda (Ask her to join our
OSList?)and perhaps for others too. It inspired me in several ways. You
can find the article "Kurt Lewin's change theory in the field and in the
classroom" at: http://www.solonline.org/res/wp/10006.html or you can
download a pdf version at
http://www.largescaleinterventions.com/english%20version/articles.htm

All the best,
Tonnie van der Zouwen

Hi All,

A friend who teaches at the university here (UNH) (she also teaches at a
local HS) recently experienced World Cafe and Open Space, both at a
conference in Florida in December. She's thinking about using these
tools in a new university course she's designing. Has anyone had
experience with using WC or OS in a classroom setting? If yes, advice?
You can reply directly to her: melinda Salazar
<msalazar at cisunix.unh.edu> if you prefer, but it would be interesting to
read the responses here, if you are willing.

For sure the gremlins are at work, and it seems that I have become a
cyber-pariah. Blocked at the gate! Responding to Eva's request that I
attempt to send her a message - I did that, and received the following
notification:

 Reporting-MTA: dns;vms042.mailsrvcs.net (tcp-daemon)

Original-recipient: rfc822;eva at epshumaninvest.se
Final-recipient: rfc822;eva at epshumaninvest.se
Action: failed
Status: 5.6.0 (SMTP transmission failure has occurred)
Remote-MTA: dns;mail.epshumaninvest.se
(TCP|206.46.252.42|61048|212.73.18.9|25)
(sweweb.nu MailSite ESMTP Receiver Version 6.0.6.0 Ready)
Diagnostic-code: smtp;554 5.6.0 Message rejected by content filter.

Seems like I am definitely an evil one. Probably should have taken a bath -
or something. And if anybody else is having similar difficulty, the cause
may be the same. In the mean time, I promise to clean up my act. :-)

Eric Lilius has suggested that the gremlin in the woodpile might be the
announcement carried in my signature that I have a new email address.
Apparently that could be regarded as SPAM. So I have removed it and send
this note onwards in order to determine what it's fate might be. THIS IS A
TEST!!!!!

Harrison,
I noticed that your test email was rejected by a content filter. Try
taking out
NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!!!!
and resending your test email.
I'm thinking that the content filter regards those !!!! as typical spam.
