Desperation can help -- but it is by no means a cure-all. Sometimes folks
get so desperate that they are like the rabbit in the gaze of a fox, or a
deer in the headlights. They just freeze. That doesn't do much good. I think
the real issue is not so much desperation -- but rather that the issue be
what I would call a significant emotional event. Anything less just doesn't
focus the attention and open the possibility space.

So if the sponsor is not desperate enough there's no way forward. :-?

I'm not looking for a client ... or am I?  I mean, I'd like to see
change within my organisation, I'm not a boss, and I don't even work
near any big cafeteria (which would put me in touch with many people).
Ok, I'm getting in touch with some people (also on the periphery), but
it's really slow - on the other hand, no-one has told me
self-organisation is a fast process.

I'm walking the talk.  Nothing to report yet.
