"Does the number of allocated meeting places designated by the facilitator
actually affect the number of issues (and associated breakout groups) that
the group comes up with?"
Not in my experience. If there are more issues, make more spaces. And if you
can't think of any - just tell the people to find their own space. They
always do. The mother of all mis-calculations occurred when Michael Pannwitz
and I took on the 2008 folks in Germany. We predicted 150 sessions/spaces.
Turned out there were 236 (Michael's count). Fortunately we had been
designating breakout areas with gas balloons with numbers on them, all over
the floor. When it became clear that we had way under-estimated the number
required more balloons were filled quickly. I don't think any of the
participants noticed, or if they did, they just thought it was part of the
show.

Subject: Allocating Breakout Groups
Does anybody have any thoughts on the following issue:
"Does the number of allocated meeting places designated by the facilitator
actually affect the number of issues (and associated breakout groups) that
the group comes up with?"
Thanks for any input.
