HI all!
I am posting the below event announcement (Chechen children's art
exhibit in Berne, Switzerland) on behalf of a very good Russian friend and
colleague, Natasha Nelidova. I have volunteered with the small
Moscow-based women's refugee NGO that she runs. It works primarily
with Chechnya. This NGO has done important work in offering
psychological trainings to Chechen women in the helping professions
(teaching, social work, psychology, medicine).

If you know anyone in Switzerland or who might go to Switzerland, might you
forward this?

If you are in Europe or know someone in Europe who might be interested
in such an exhibition, might you let me know. I could then forward
this information to her.

Thank you,
Raffi Aftandelian

The women’s refugee organization A Warm Home
(Moscow-Ingushetia-Chechnya) would like to invite you a an exhibition
of Chechen children’s art:

“War and Peace Through the Eyes of Chechen Children.”

This exhibition will take place in Berne:
adress is Art Direkt, Giovanni Schumacher,
Herrengasse 4, 3011 Bern,
Fon: 0041-31-312 0567, Fax: 0041-31-312 0568

It will run from June 22-July 7, 2005.

The opening of the exhibtion will be on June 22nd from 6-8pm.

The exhibition will include drawings and photos from children of Chechnya.

The film, Nedetskie Istorii (“Not a child’s tale”), directed by
Chechen journalist Zara Imaeva (subtitled in German) will also be
screened.

This event seeks to attract the attention to the plight of children in
war-torn Chechnya. In particular it seeks to highlight the situation
with disabled children, children with serious illnesses, and children
of large families without a parent who generates income.

We would like to establish contact with those who would like to help
these children: to send medication, help them get education, send them
warm winter clothing.

The exhibition will include photographs of these children, their
stories, and contact information.

We would much appreciate it if you could invite your friends.

Respectfully,
Natasha Nelidova and her colleagues
