London calling

Hallo all

I was working in London today - only a few minutes walk from where some of
the bombs went off. The full news of the deaths and injuries caused is only
just beginnning to emerge. The terrorists had clearly planned this
carefully - a good number of London police were up in Scotland at the G8
conference of course. I am saddened deeply by this violence - although it
was really only a question of time before such an event happened. My heart
goes out to those who have been injured and to the families of those who
have been killed.

For me this day has only served to remind me that you cannot beat terrorism
with more violence or any number of security measures. The only way to beat
this violence of terrorism, along with all other forms of violence in the
shape of starvation, poverty, lack of human rights (and so forth) - is
through peaceful means. And that peace starts with talking & understanding.

May all of us on this list continue to promote good talking, good
understanding and more & more peace.
