I think the fares you found are representative -- and for the adventuresome,
there is a very large and fast ferry that runs from Bar Harbor Maine called
The CAT. For details go to

Shelburne is on the West side of Nova Scotia and Halifax on the east --
therefore a car is necessary. This is a marvelous part of the US/Canada, and
there is no better way to see it than from the water. But I suspect the cost
is about the same as airfare.

Hi--

How will those of you from the US be getting to Halifax?

So far, I have not found any good airfares from my location (South Bend,
Indiana) to Halifax--all seem to be in the $500 range.

Is there another airport near Halifax that might be a good alternative? Is
anybody planning to drive, take a train, hitchhike, fly in a hot air
balloon, or find some other innovative way to Halifax?
