Givens -- Again

My feeling is never say more than you have to. I find that the history and
such is interesting but usually for another time. Main point is to open the
space and get the folks on the move. However, I guess I wouldn't think of
Butterflies and Bumble Bees as beside the point. They both flow naturally
from The Law of Two Feet -- and that Law (in my opinion) is the grease that
lubricates the whole thing. It is also just giving people "permission" to do
what they would do anyhow -- but feel guilty about.

This raises a question I've been meaning to ask the group--

I've opened space 3 times now. I've been wondering how much other people
talk during the opening about the ideas behind open space vs. the basic
mechanics. I think I've been confusing people by talking about the circle,
and breath, and bumblebees and butterflies. Maybe people just need to be
welcomed to the space and given a basic mechanical explanation?

Any thoughts?
