Opening Space for Communication and Collaboration with Open Space
Technology

>From the Invitation to BloggerCon " There are no panels. Each room will
have many experts, all of whom would be excellent panelists. The job of the
moderator is to assemble a story by calling on the people at his or her
disposal. They're like reporters putting together a story, but you get to
hear, first hand what the experts are saying, in their own voices."

Open Space Technology should be considered as a way to make this vision a
reality. It is the most Blog like format for hosting a conference.

Open Space is based on the theories of complexity, self-organization and
open systems. It is designed to simulate that natural way people find each
other and share ideas in all different cultures and countries. People self-
organize for their mutual needs, given a few guidelines for meeting
together. The facilitator in this case opens the meeting or conference and
helps set the tone and intention for the group, then stands back to allow
the individuals to group and regroup around their individual issues of
interest and passion. The cross-pollination of moving from group to group
and topic to topic in a non-linear way allows participants to jump quickly
from familiar ways of thinking into innovation and action. It is also based
on the understanding that there is a great amount of wisdom and experience
in any gathered group of people - that we are all 'experts' and can all
contribute - a true democratic process.
