Hello folks! For all of who feel moved to connect with fundamentals and to
reach beyond fear and separation in America, here is a wonderful initiative
which Dave and I will host at our local community Commons on a regular
basis. Susan Partnow, an OST practitioner and leader in Let¹s Talk America,
sends this information which I¹m passing along to all of you.

The format might even give you non-Americans some ideas for holding
conversations in your neck of the planet!!! Love, Anne

Subject: Election Day and beyond...

Dear Anne,

In the build up to November 2,

Let¹s Talk America ( www.letstalkamerica.org
<http://connect.letstalkamerica.org/ctt.asp?u=2246326&l=65953> ) is
asking people to also think about November 3 and beyondŠ and do something
about it on November 18.

The election has been a punishing uncivil war of words. No matter who wins
(or how long it takes to select the winner), the emotional Red Cross will
need to come out in force to help some very cross people calm down and heal
their wounds. Our society has been pumped full of hatred. Where will it go
once the election is decided? One friend said, ³Isn't it nerve-racking
waiting for this election? It's kinda like being on death row, wondering if
you'll be getting a reprieve.² We call LTA the leading edge of the ³mending
edge² re-knitting civil society in this polarizing and paralyzing
political moment in our history.

TIME
Magazine¹s November 1 cover story, ³The Morning After² talks about this
moment, and mentions LTA:

³Ša group called Let's Talk America, which trains people to hold bipartisan
meetings in which they can exchange ideas in a benevolent environment, has
decided to focus on cleaning up after this election. It plans to place Op-Ed
pieces and radio commentaries encouraging citizens with diverse views to
hold monthly Let's Talk America days in their living rooms and town halls.
The move may come off as earnest now, but it may simply look sensible if
Americans end up feeling bruised by an election turned legal train wreck.²

November 18
is the first monthly Let¹s Talk America Day and we¹re encouraging everyone
to invite friends, neighbors and strangers to meet and talk about where we
go from here. If you want some help, telephone host trainings are available
(see www.letstalkamerica.org/phonetrain.htm
<http://connect.letstalkamerica.org/ctt.asp?u=2246326&l=65954> ). A
27-minute host orientation video is at
www.conversationcafe.org/TrainingVideo.html
<http://connect.letstalkamerica.org/ctt.asp?u=2246326&l=65955> . A
written manual and all the materials you need are also on the website at
www.letstalkamerica.org/hostresources.htm
<http://connect.letstalkamerica.org/ctt.asp?u=2246326&l=65956> . If you
sign up through the website, you¹ll use our powerful meeting tool to attract
other concerned citizens to your conversations
http://connect.letstalkamerica.org/meetings
<http://connect.letstalkamerica.org/ctt.asp?u=2246326&l=65958> .

I¹m hosting such a conversation November 18th on Vashon Island, my home rock
in Puget Sound. We¹re using the LTA/Conversation Café process and simple
questions like:

€

What¹s on your heart and mind about the election?

€

What¹s needed by the nation and our community now?

€

What does the mending edge mean to you and how do you want to participate?

I strongly encourage you to join LTA by hosting conversations during this
post-election period and to list your conversations at
www.letstalkamerica.org
<http://connect.letstalkamerica.org/ctt.asp?u=2246326&l=65953> so we
can learn together how to mend the American soul. Let¹s talk, AmericaŠ
about this election, and beyond.

Be well,

Susan Partnow

P.S. And between now and then, just ask folks, ³How are you in this build-up
to the election?² It¹s a tense time. Ross Reynolds, a local talk show host
in Seattle asked listeners Wednesday:

³Are you in a state of high anxiety over next Tuesday's election? Do you
jump when a stranger asks who you're voting for? Are you having nightmares?
Have conversations with those who think differently than you turned...
chilly? What are you doing to relieve your pre-election jitters?²
