I have not had this experience, but my gut rebels as well.  I have resisted
suggestions that "invited" speakers be allowed to announce their OS sessions
ahead of time.

My personal belief is that it is very important that participants be there on
an equal basis, with no one having any special advantage re: the posting of
sessions.

I do like Harrison's idea of sending out a roster ahead of time, so people
can be thinking about who will be there and who they might like to talk with.
This begins to build some interest and involvement, without creating two
classes of session topics.
