Continuity of week-apart sessions?

Doug--

I can understand the sponsor's desire to define the problems, find solutions,
move to action. Of course, you and I know that will happen in Open Space
without putting up fences around what can be discussed in each session. In
fact, I think that limiting Session 2 to solution-finding may lose the
possibility that after a week to think things over, some participants may
understand the problems at a whole new level!

Maybe you could get him to agree to allow the first two sessions to move
naturally through problems and possible solutions. Then use Michael's
non-convergence for Session 3, opening with the question of "What's
next?"--of course framed in the elegant, inviting language you use so well.

Good luck in finding what feels right to you AND the client. I am struggling
a bit just now with a client planning to use OS in the difficult work of
restructuring--and they don't quite believe that it will work unless they do
something more.

Joelle
