yes on the quadrants, doug...

purpose/passion, story/vision/culture/invitation,
structure/design, action/doing/documenting...

yes, this is a bit of clinging/dawdling in the design space
in advance of 'action - doing it'.

in some ways they don't have anything to 'do' so they keep
designing...

the opening action will be final prep, setting circle,
people showing up and then you'll bring attention back to
the purpose, they'll post passions/invitations for
breakouts, start moving in the marketplace structure that
you've created, and doing/documenting their conversations..

so what physical actions can they DO now that would help
shift to that action space?

i've followed lisa and others' leads on asking sponsors to
make posters. then there are food orders, registration
details, documentation details to set up perhaps to be
attended to. any redirection of jitters from design to
physical doing seems likely to be helpful.

and if there is nothing that really needs doing for the
program just now, which is quite possible, then just saying
'we did the purpose work, clarified invitation and
direction, have DONE the design, and are now ready for the
action... have you cleared the decks for yourself in the
rest of your work so that you will be ready for followup
actions afterward, to do and support doing?

yep, i think the quadrants bit works just fine here. thanks
for pointing that out.... chris corrigan is right again...
the quadrant seasons show up everywhere.

p.s. looking back i see too that the glitch is in the
future, in the invitations/passions point that i mention
above in the process where they don't understand the
movement of the structuring step during the event, so they
go back to redesigning it. not sure at all that you would
want to explain all this to them, but the fact is that they
absolutely cannot resolve any glitch in the
invitation/breakouts posting process until all the people
are there... every decision made now before they get there
is a decision and a bit of space taken away from the
participants.

well, that was more than i thought i'd say here. hope it's
worth all two cents.
