evening OS (long)

Dear OS friends,

Thanks to all, who helped me to decide what and how to do.

It has been quite a hard decision, if introduce the OS rules and try to
have them working accordingly.
As I wrote earlier, it was (it is up till 5 July) a knowledge transfer
programme with lectures and seminars where I don't have any stake.
I was assigned to boost the process of getting acquinted with each other.
It was the evening one, where I had practically 1,5-2 hours. There I did
some structured excercises.

On the evening of the second day I found around 20 people, tired from the
whole day's work. Some of them were not present on the evening one, so were
unknown for me, some key people (in business political sense, who could
introduce the OS en-large in the party) were missing.

Anyway I decided to use the OS to utilize the rest of their energy.
We started at 6:15 p.m. They were hungry, expecting the dinner at 7.
And the programme was supposed to finish at 10:00 p.m.

So I opened the space up till 7, including the market place.

I decided the topic, that was in line with their interests. At least I made
assumptions according the previous day's discussions:
This party is just in the process of preparation for the next year
election, so the topic was

"Sending persuasive leftist messages to the different layers of the society"

There were 11 issues initiated in two 45 min. time slots, from which there
were cca 5, where nobody signed up, 2, where only one sign-up happened.

The conventional dinner did not help much. As I saw there was no time for
being energized enough to use this time for discussions.

After all, there was only one time slot, and used the twice 45 min. to work
on the four topics with quite a good result. (They were satisfied with it.)

Because of different reasons I let them make reports on the topics
findings, that has taken out the energy (as Harrison admitted in one
message). Around 9:15 they were unable to make additional efforts to make
decisions on how to go ahead, so I started the closing circle, where I got
quite good feedbacks about this (distorted) OS trial.

If I want to be personal - I had to struggle most with the "sponsor" of the
whole programme. Possibly you know the type, who likes to hear his own
voice, and I had limited possibilty to stop him. It was not a problem in
the small groups discussion (I think) but in handling the whole groups.

He did several times, when I tried to send some important message, that
overtalked the effect and made some ridiculouos statement.

After all, I am over my first ever OS, and looking forward the next one.

Regards to all of you

Gyuri
