OS and AI

What a great list this is!! I too am enjoying the discussion about using
other processes to compliment OST. I began a week ago with not even knowing
that there was such a process as AI so even at that level I learn something
more. Thank you.

If I might attempt to repay the group, I'd like to make one comment and
then one observation.

There will always be a variance of opinions amongst a group of people who
think and this is certainly one of those. And it is often that those
opinions are not ones which can be reconciled and the gems are simply the
exchange of ideas that allow held views to be challenged and tested. If
someone happens to modify or change their opinions as a result, then that
is as it should be. And I see some of that happening during this discussion.

One observation I'd like to pitch in with. A comment went almost
un-noticed, I think about the length of time OST needs to run before the
"creative juices" of the group really get going and I wonder if this might
not actually be  the crux of this discussion.

Could it be that if the OST is for a shorter time, like one day or less,
that the group could benefit from some kind of acceleration of the process
they would otherwise more naturally develop over a longer period of time?
(I leave aside the issue of whether AI is the best, or even an appropriate
vehicle for that.)

One factor which greatly influences this issue, I'd suggest, is the success
with which the facilitator opens the space. The point I am thinking of here
is that for folk to "get into the swing of things" requires them to divest
themselves of almost every learnt behaviour from proactive organisations.
In short, they really do have to get to a point where they trust that they
can really do whatever they want..that there *are no rules* as they would
understand rules. How well the space is opened (and here I include the
invitation process as part of that opening process) would directly
influence those feelings.

My other consideration here is that I'd be wanting to satisfy myself that
any process which is somehow used in conjunction with OST would complement
OST in its essence. For instance it would have to be non-intrusive...not
"chalk and talk" to bring in an obvious example. (And once again the
example is generic, certainly not intended as a comment on AI).
