erich, i appreciate your comments. i live in haiti and function daily in a
language (haitian creole mostly but occaisionally french) which is not my
mother tongue.  your written english is excellent!

when it comes to communication with people and in languages other than our
mother tongue and learning language, my colleagues and i always say,
"patience is the key."
